White Boy's Post Season Picks (2-6) Yikes
2) Nawlins Saints (14-3) (-3.5) vs Minnesota Vikings (13-4)- I think this one is an absolute layup. The Saints, when they are feeling it and in rhythm offensively, make the Colt's passing attack look like the Jet's passing attack. That's how dominant it is. It is the greatest offense in the history of the White Boy NFL era. I know the Vikings are an excellent defensive team but so were other teams the Saints throttled this year. Even staying close in that building will be very difficult for the Vikes. The saints pass defense is very good and they will be able to put 8 men in the box and have ball hawk and future hall of famer Darren Sharper play center-field on Favre deep balls. I don't think it will be a total blow out but I expect the Saints to pull away late and win by 10-14 points. THE PICK: SAINTS 28-17
Now the game most of you reading this really care about......
1) New York Jets (11-7) (+7.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts (15-2)-I think people are largely missing the boat on this game. The Jets are one of the least likable underdog teams since my beloved 98-99 Knicks. Yes it is a 9-7 5 seed but that is the only thing that's "little guy" about this team. It has an obnoxious coach and even more obnoxious defensive lead by arrogant douchebags Bart Scott and Kerry Rhodes. Oh, their best player by far, Derelle Revis is a class act and a great great player but he lets these above average to good players do the talking. Hey, if doing this talking is what gets them to play great defense, they should do it but it doesn't mean, I, a non-Jet fan should like them for doing so. I loved the Curtis, Cherbet, Pennington Jets because they were class acts who played the game the right way. Curtis Martin would make my all non-white blue collar athlete list which I have been working on for 2 years. (sort of) I know that team never got as far as this team did but I just can't get behind a group of guys that have zero humility or respect for its opposition. Now, the game itself. The Jets defense has done a great job of forcing QB's to make ill-advised throws into traffic. It's pass rush, not the strength of this defense, has done a good job so far in these playoffs. I expect Ryan to dial up some zone blitzes to confuse Peyton and keep him scurrying. However, I don't think the Jets have faced an offensive line as great at pass protection as this one all season. I think that the O-line will keep Manning upright which spells doom for the Jets and Ryan. I think that unlike the Chargers, the Colts will be able to get that two possession lead by halftime forcing the Jets to rely on the arm of Sanchez. I think the Jets will still be uber conservative though with Sanchez only increasing the amount of passing plays they run but not making these plays more than 10-15 yards down the field. This will allow the Jets to stay in the game and maybe even only lose by 7 or so. But I think it won't be enough. Still I think the Jets,w hen faced with a 10 or 14 point halftime deficit will not start throwing bombs but will try to slowly get back in the game. I just think time will out on them int his game and in this season that has captured the hearts of everyone in this city, except apparently me. THE PICK: JETS TO COVRER BUT THE COLTS WIN 24-17
